Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Demaine Marquelle Glenn and he was sentenced on Monday. The 30-year-old defendant was sentenced to 5 years and 11 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon. In Sept. 2018, officers responded to a shots fired call after someone in the defendant’s car fired several shots at another occupied vehicle. Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, Governor Reynolds ordered all  flags  in Iowa to be lowered to  half-staff immediately to sunset on October 22, 2021 in honor and remembrance of Colin Powell. This order applies to state-owned properties, including the Capitol Complex in Des Moines. Flags will also be  half-staff  on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Officials say that private citizens are encouraged to participate in the remembrance of Powell, according to the governor’s office. President Joe Biden had issued a similar order for federal properties during the same time period. More information here.

Iowa City, IOWA – According to the Iowa City Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 7 p.m. Sunday. It happened in the area of Highway 6 and Sycamore Street. Iowa City Police Department officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash. The responding officers found one male victim. Police say the victim suffered a gunshot wound and was found unconscious inside the crashed vehicle. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the shooting occurred right after 4 a.m. early Monday morning. It happened in the 300 block of Paula Lane. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found one female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say the victim suffered not life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. This incident remains under investigation. Linn County, IOWA – According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 11 a.m. Saturday. It happened along Highway 100 westbound. Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash. When the deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that a motorcycle lost control and crashed. The motorcyclist suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Deputies say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. This story will be updated as new information become available.

According to the court documents, the 31-year-old woman was convicted Thursday for killing her 30-year-old boyfriend. The defendant told prosecutors that her boyfriend hit her, so she killed him. The 31-year-old woman claimed that the victim had hit her on March 5, 2020. Jurors nonetheless convicted of second-degree intentional murder. “I shot him because he hit me,” she told the neighbor.
