IOWA – For the approaching holiday season, the city of Cedar Rapids is looking for a Christmas tree. During the derecho, the city’s selection of possible local options was reduced. The city of Cedar Rapids, according to arborist Todd Fagan, makes a list of persons who need a tree removed. The tree was often put too close to a home or driveway, but the derecho wiped out that pipeline. Officials say that the requirement applies for all visitors and employees to wear face coverings while inside Johnson County facilities. Ames, IOWA – According to the court documents, Trevin Nicholson and Danielle Obrecht were charged on Thursday. Nicholson is charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment causing death. Obrecht is charged with child endangerment causing death. This unfortunate incident occurred on April 24. Ames Police Department officers responded to a report that a child was having difficulty breathing. Unfortunately, the 2-year-old boy died the next day. The mother told authorities that the 2-year-old boy was injured while her boyfriend, Trevin Nicholson, was watching him. Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Cedric Cornelius Shivers and he was sentenced to 70 months in prison. Prosecutors say the 26-year-old defendant was sentenced on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm. This incident occurred on Sept. 14, 2020. Iowa State Trooper conducted a traffic stop. The defendant fled from the traffic stop and traveled at speeds of more than 110 mph. Shivers eventually rolled the SUV down an embankment into a ditch. Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, Governor Kim Reynolds has extended the state’s declaration of COVID-19 as an official health disaster another month as it was set to expire on Sunday. Officials say that the new end date is now scheduled for 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 14 unless sooner terminated or extended by the governor. What was meant to be a memorable family vacation turned into a devastating tragedy after a couple and their 3-year-old son were found dead together in an Airbnb. The Californian couple and with their toddler son traveled to Mexico to visit family before the incident took place. It is believed that a gas leak was the reason that led to their unexpected deaths on September 25, 2021.
