Postville, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 11 p.m. Thursday. It happened on Highway 51, 6 miles north of Postville. Authorities say the trooper was assisting the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office with a call for service. His name is Ted Benda and he was involved in a single-vehicle collision. The trooper suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Gunderson Lutheran Hospital. through a news release. This incident is under investigation. Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, her name is Sophia Garcia and she was arrested. This incident occurred right after 2 a.m. early Friday morning. The suspect left a bar with a man she met that night. The man said that he showed Garcia a handgun. Garcia then grabbed the handgun and began firing out her car window. The woman was arrested on suspicion of reckless use of a firearm and cocaine possession. No one was injured in this incident. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, his name is Frank Bloch and police say he faces felony charges of first-degree burglary and control of a firearm by a felon. This incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. Thursday. It happened in the 5400 block of North Division Street. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of a disturbance. This unfortunate incident occurred right after 2 a.m. early Thursday morning. It happened in the 300 block of Carnaby Drive NE. According to the court documents, the 30-year-old defendant pleaded guilty on Wednesday. Prosecutors say he pleaded guilty to killing his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child in 2018. The defendant allegedly admitted that he used a cellphone charging cord to strangle the 29-year-old victim to death. Bellevue, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Brian Robert Detwiler and he pleaded guilty to one count of conversion of property pledged to a farm credit agency. Prosecutors say the 26-year-old defendant admitted he got a $50,000 U.S.D.A. loan to buy cattle and then used some of the money for work on his house, gambling, food and alcohol. According to the court documents, the defendant bought 35 head of cattle for $32,000. Detwiler then sold 22 head for a profit and used the money in casinos, prosecutors say.
