Linn County, IOWA – According to the Marion Police Department, the shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. Thursday. It happened at 895 Blairs Ferry Road in Marion. Marion Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, a woman told them that she and her boyfriend were leaving the restaurant when three men attacked her boyfriend. According to the court documents, the 30-year-old defendant pleaded guilty on Wednesday. Prosecutors say he pleaded guilty to killing his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child in 2018. The defendant allegedly admitted that he used a cellphone charging cord to strangle the 29-year-old victim to death. He confessed that he strangled her to death in a fit of rage inside of her apartment on Sept. 26, 2018. Authorities found evidence on his cellphone that the victim broken up with him just before her death. An autopsy has been scheduled at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner. This unfortunate incident occurred right before 4 p.m. Wednesday. It happened in the 800 block of Iowa Street. Davenport Police Department officers attempted to take the suspect into custody. The armed suspect refused to comply and ignored the officer’s commands. Bellevue, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Brian Robert Detwiler and he pleaded guilty to one count of conversion of property pledged to a farm credit agency. Prosecutors say the 26-year-old defendant admitted he got a $50,000 U.S.D.A. loan to buy cattle and then used some of the money for work on his house, gambling, food and alcohol. According to the court documents, the defendant bought 35 head of cattle for $32,000. Detwiler then sold 22 head for a profit and used the money in casinos, prosecutors say. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the shooting occurred right before 9 p.m. Wednesday. It happened at the intersection of Bever Avenue SE and 19th Street SE. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they discovered that a vehicle had been shot at by an unknown suspect. Police say the 22-year-old suspect from Arkansas is being held in the Hardin County jail. This unfortunate incident occurred in the 300 block of Commercial Street in Union. Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an unresponsive male. The responding deputies found the 74-year-old victim inside a bedroom in the residence.
