According to the court documents, the 26-year-old suspect is facing a number of charges after authorities said he tried to run over a 13-year-old girl after he abused and impregnated her. The victim and the suspect got into a verbal altercation that escalated and became physical. During the fight, the suspect used his hands to choke her to the point that she lost consciousness at least three times. He then got in his vehicle and attempted to run her over the victim with the intent to kill her and her unborn child.

The 26-year-old man from North Carolina, Eduardo Rubio, was arrested and taken into custody on Friday, Nov. 12. Prosecutors said he is now charged with statutory rape, attempted first-degree murder, attempted murder of an unborn child and first-degree kidnapping. He is also charged with three counts of assault by strangulation, according to reports.

Investigators were looking to the missing 13-year-old victim. They went to the suspect’s home around 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 12. While they were searching his residence, someone called 911 and told authorities that the 13-year-old girl was at a different apartment and her face and head were bruised.

EMS personnel picked up the girl and took her to hospital. Police said the 13-year-old girl was treated for injuries to her face, arms, neck and knees. The victim told investigators that the 26-year-old suspect had been $exually assaulting her for approximately the last two years. She said the abuse began when she was 11 years old.

Doctors discovered that the 13-year-old girl, whose name was withheld from court documents, was approximately 4 months pregnant. She told investigators that she already knew she was pregnant and that the pregnancy was the result of being $exually abused by the suspect.

The victim told investigators that the 26-year-old man was aware of her pregnancy. She and Rubio got into a verbal altercation that escalated and became physical. The 13-year-old victim told investigators that during the fight, the suspect used his hands to choke her to the point that she lost consciousness at least three times.

The last time she lost consciousness, the 26-year-old suspect reportedly got in his vehicle and attempted to run her over the victim with the intent to kill her and her unborn child. The victim sustained significant bruising, swelling, abrasions and head trauma.

The 26-year-old man is being held without bond. This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
