Mom of three died after getting silicone injection from unlicensed ‘working from home beauty consultant’; charges filed

According to the court documents, the 47-year-old woman from Texas is now charged with the death of a 38-year-old woman from Missouri. Prosecutors said the mother of three died after receiving an illegal silicone injection. The suspect reportedly admitted to injecting the silicone and said that she is not licensed to perform the procedure. She also said that she knew the risks of conducting the procedure incorrectly, prosecutors said.

The 47-year-old woman from Texas, Lisa Fernandez, is charged with manslaughter in the death of 38-year-old Marja McClendon who came on April 24, 2018 for two rounds silicone butt injections.

The 38-year-old victim was feeling sick after the first injection. But, unfortunately, she decided to return for the second round when Fernandez refused to give her a refund.

The next day, the 47-year-old suspect had to stop the procedure several times because McClendon was experiencing significant pain. Prosecutors said that by the time she left, McClendon was coughing up blood.

Unfortunately, McClendon died on April 30, 2018. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was complications from a silicone pulmonary embolism. Authorities then launched a homicide investigation.

Fernandez was arrested for driving without a license. Witness who took the victim to get the injections and later to the hospital, was able to identify her from a lineup.

The 47-year-old suspect was charged with manslaughter on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021. Fernandez reportedly admitted to injecting McClendon’s silicone. The woman also told investigators that she is not licensed to perform the procedure.

The defendant said she knew the risks of conducting the procedure incorrectly, prosecutors said. She described herself as a “working from home beauty consultant.”

According to the court documents, judge gave the 47-year-old a $40,000 bond and ordered that she cannot perform any unlicensed medical or cosmetic procedures.

The victim’s family said she was a mom of three. “She loved her children. She was just an outgoing person, loved to have fun and she loved her family,” the victim’s uncle said. McClendon’s sister is now raising two of her three children.

This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.
