A mom from Delaware has been charged with the murder of her 3-year-old daughter, whose remains were found buried in a softball field almost two years ago. The remains of the 3-year-old girl were found buried in a softball field close to her family home in Delaware in September, 2019. Two high school students from Indiana have been killed in a car crash on their way to prom. Kalen and her prom date died in the collision on Saturday, May 1. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the Iowa Department of Public Health and Safety said the state asked the federal government to withhold 71% of the 105,300 vaccine doses that were available for the week of May 10. Davenport, IA – According to the court documents, Judge John Telleen granted a request to reduce the bond for Angela Regina Marxen to $500,000. According to the officials, Marxen must post 10%, or $50,000, to be released from the Scott County Jail.  Marxen is charged with first-degree murder, child endangerment resulting in death, and child endangerment. Court records show she filed a written plea of not guilty to the charges. A formal arraignment is scheduled for May 13.

Davenport, IA – According to the statement, Gov. Reynolds said she wants to ban girls who are transgender from competing in girls sports in school. Five states have already signed similar bills into law, but a gender rights advocate says this legislation isn’t necessary. Iowa Safe Schools is an organization that supports LGBTQ youth. Gov. Reynolds said that she wants all female athletes to have the same opportunities.  There were two bills introduced earlier in this legislative session on transgender sports bans, but they didn’t pass.

Davenport, IA – The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 389 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths.  The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 395,738 total positive tests, 349,005 total recoveries and 5,959 total deaths since the pandemic began.  State data shows 1,103,302 Iowans have completed a vaccine series in the state, while 2,390,239 vaccine doses have been administered. The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 increased from 181 to 195. There are 48 patients in ICU and 23 patients on ventilators.

IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is James Thiel and he is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless use of a watercraft, and other charges. The incident occurred on August 16, 2020 on the Mississippi River that killed Anita Pinc and Craig Verbeke. The 44-year-old man turned himself in Tuesday morning.
