The body of a missing 5-year-old girl swept away by floodwaters in Texas, has been recovered.  According to tragic reports, the young girl has been identified by her family members as Alyssa Layman, and was said to have been pulled from one of two vehicles that were caught in a high-water crossing. The two vehicles, carrying members of the same family, had both been driving through the crossing when they encountered problems. Cedar Rapids, IOWa – According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 11 p.m. Saturday. It happened at 159 Summer Circle NE.  Cedar Rapids Fire Department crews responded to a report of a fire. The responding crews found significant fire and were able to extinguish it, which protected nearby homes. Nobody was injured in the incident, officials say.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.

Des Moines, IOWa – According to the Des Moines Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:15 a.m. early Sunday morning. It happened at 3rd Street and Court Avenue. Des Moines Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found three victims. Police say all victims suffered not life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. This incident remains under investigation. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, the shooting occurred around 2:50 a.m. Sunday. It happened at 5220 Grand Ave in Davenport. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found one adult male victim. Police say the 35-year-old victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. He was later identified as Samuel Wires. This incident remains under investigation. IOWA – According to the state officials, the new Micro Farm policy simplifies record keeping and covers post-production costs like washing and value-added products.  Officials say that the new policy is based on research directed by the 2018 Farm Bill. It also includes feedback from producers who grow for their local communities. IOWA – For the approaching holiday season, the city of Cedar Rapids is looking for a Christmas tree. During the derecho, the city’s selection of possible local options was reduced. The city of Cedar Rapids, according to arborist Todd Fagan, makes a list of persons who need a tree removed. The tree was often put too close to a home or driveway, but the derecho wiped out that pipeline. Officials say that the requirement applies for all visitors and employees to wear face coverings while inside Johnson County facilities.
