Buffalo, IOWA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. Friday. It happened in the 800 block of 3rd Street. Authorities responded to a report of a house fire.  The responding officers discovered that one person was still inside the home. They tried to get inside the house, but the intensity of the flames had progressed to the point that they could not get into the person inside. Police say the victim walked across the street when a driver hit him. His name is Joey Smith and he was arrested. The 40-year-old man is charged with leaving the scene of a serious injury accident and having no driver’s license and no insurance. The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
