IOWA – According to the statement, 60 Iowa legislators want the state Supreme Court to overturn a 2018 ruling on abortion. Officials say that the Iowa Supreme Court hasn’t set a date for arguments to be offered. According to the statement, the suit was filed after Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a 2020 law requiring a 24-hour waiting period before a woman can get an abortion. An Iowa judge struck down the law in June, ruling it unconstitutional. The judge pointed to the 2018 Iowa court ruling while abolished a 72-hour waiting period for abortion. 

Des Moines, IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is Danil James Deng and he was arrested Wednesday. Police say the 17-year-old suspect was arrested in the Monday shooting that killed a 40-year-old man. Two other victims suffered non life-threatening injuries.  The 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and a weapons count. Officers found a handgun in his possession which is believed to be the gun used in the shootings. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.

Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is Nestor Lagunes Dominguez and he was arrested for the shooting death of Jose Florentino Ramirez Landin. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. Police say the 40-year-old victim was shot in the 4000 block of 21st Avenue SW. He later died. Investigators say the identification of the suspect comes as the result of an investigation that included numerous interviews, evidence collection, review of surveillance video. Bettendorf, IOWA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred on Aug. 21. Authorities say the vandals caused significant damage at the golf course. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the new park opened on Thursday in the Jersey Farms subdivision. Officials say that the nine-acre park includes a playground, walking trail and pavilion. This is the first park in the Jersey Farms neighborhood throughout a growing area. The opening of the park completed the first phase of the project. Officials say they want to add a basketball courts to the park in the near future. This story will be updated as new information become available.

A young woman was caught on camera placing a bloodied backpack in a store dumpster. Authorities are now searching for the woman after the backpack was found to contain suspected human remains. According to reports, the female then walked into the store without the backpack before leaving the premises. Officers were called to reports of a female who had thrown a backpack in a dumpster behind a shop in Virginia around 1.50 p.m. on Monday, August 30. According to the court documents, the 27-year-old suspect stands accused of burning 2-year-old boy with a torch before killing him and dumping his body in an apartment complex dumpster in February. Prosecutors say the man was charged with murder in the first degree and ten counts of child abuse in March.
