IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Harvey Hunter Jr. and he pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment. Hunter Jr. accepted the plea agreement offered by Polk County prosecutors. The 48-year-old man said that he did threaten to commit bodily injury to a government official in his Jan. 5 voicemail. Prosecutors will recommend that he serve a one-year term of probation, pay a fine, have no contact with the governor and undergo a mental health evaluation. The sentencing is scheduled for next week.

Davenport, IA – According to the military court records, his name is Gary Goins and he faces court martial based on four criminal charges stemming from alleged sexual assault of a minor while he was serving in late December 2020. The suspect is a teacher who once ran for the Bettendorf School Board and is a U.S. Army reservist at Fort Bragg, N.C. Goins worked for the Rock Island-Milan School District. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, Gov. Reynolds signed a law banning school districts from requiring students and staff to wear masks. And the CDC order from early January establishes masks must be required while riding public transportation, which includes school buses. According to the U.S. Constitution, federal laws take precedence over state laws, but that has not settled the confusion. Cedar Rapids schools say they plan on following the state law for now. Other school districts across eastern Iowa are doing the same. 

IOWA – According to the police officials, two other teenagers are in critical condition. This unfortunate incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. The four teenagers had been traveling in a 2000 Chevy Silverado pickup truck on a dirt road east of Murray and near the intersection of Kendall Street and 160th Avenue. A Burlington Northern Sana Fe freight train struck the vehicle. Two of the teenagers were killed in the collision. The driver and another passenger were found suffering life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, his name is Marecio C. Bailey-Mangruem and he is charged with one count of possession with the intent to deliver crack cocaine. The charge is a Class C felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of 10 years. Undercover agents purchased four-tenths of a gram of purported crack cocaine in exchange for pre-recorded U.S. currency. The package purchased from the 29-year-old man tested positive for cocaine. The bodies of a 4-year-old boy and his father were found just hours after the boy’s mother had petitioned for an emergency order for authorities to pick up the child. Less than 12 hours after the bodies were discovered at a South Florida condo the boy’s mother received an email from a judge denying her request saying the motion “does not present an emergency as it addresses the issue of child visitation.” Last week, the boy’s mother sought protection orders against the father for stalking and domestic violence. A high school teacher is accused of allowing a sexual relationship to develop between him and one of his teenage students. The Las Vegas high school biology teacher reportedly had sex with the female student, aged 16, and is accused of knocking her grade up from F to A in a quiz. On May 12, Lawrence turned himself in but there are no details currently about how the sexual relationship first came to light. A woman in England was handed a life sentence after she had sex with an autistic man and encouraged her friends to murder him. 30-year-old Becki West-Davidson reportedly slept with a vulnerable 22-year-old man named Joe Pooley, who needed the support of his family. When he began making protestations of love, she tried to “ghost” him by ignoring his messages, the Ipswich Crown Court heard.
