Iowa – The Iowa Department of Public Health reported that the new numbers bring Iowa’s totals to 326,417 positives COVID-19 cases and 5,174 deaths since last March. The state’s seven-day average of new cases is 697, the lowest seven-day average seen since September. The new cases come from 3,638 tests in the 24-hour period. Linn County added 41 new virus cases, for a total of 18,955 since March. The county’s seven-day average is 43. Johnson County reported 40 cases, bringing the county’s total to 12,739. The county’s seven-day average is 26.

Waterloo, IA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred early Thursday morning. Waterloo Police Department officers responded to a shooting call approximately at 4 a.m. The shooting happened near West 1st Street and West Wellington Street, but the victim was found near the intersection of University Avenue and Sergeant Road, near Highway 218. IOWA – According to the court documents, her name is Danielle Weiner, 33-year-old, of Ryan. She is accused in the fatal shooting of Devon Hierrezuelo, 27-year-old, of Oak Law, Illinois. According to the police report, the shooting occurred approximately at 1 a.m. Monday at the Shady Acres Apartments in Ryan, where arriving sheriff’s deputies found Hierrezuelo dead inside an apartment. She told investigators that a man entered the apartment and argued with Hierrezuelo before shooting him in the living area and fleeing. IOWA – According to the statement, he caused a crash that killed a Minburn woman and seriously injured her 7-year-old son. His name is Stephen Wink, 53-year-old, of Council Bluffs. He has been charged with driving while barred, driving with a revoked license, driving under suspension and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. Wink was driving, when his vehicle crossed the center line on a road south of Perry and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Danyel Hardisty. Hardisty died at the scene. Her 7-year-old son remains hospitalized with broken bones and internal injuries.

Her name is Jimena Jinez, 18-year-old and she pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of Lyric Stewart during an altercation in a Rock Island residence on Dec. 30.
