According to the court documents, the 37-year-old father was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the 2019 assault of his 2-month-old daughter. Prosecutors say the defendant beat his infant daughter, leaving her blind, brain damaged and in a medically-induced coma. He admitted to the court that he got angry over his child’s constant crying. Waterloo, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Chandrique Day and he was sentenced to 120 months in prison. Prosecutors say the 21-year-old defendant possessed multiple handguns, some of which were equipped with an extended magazine as well as an AR-15 equipped with a high-capacity magazine. He pleaded guilty on May 14th, 2021. The 21-year-old man must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, his name is Brett Bonjour and he faces felony charges of going armed with intent and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. The 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday. On Oct. 12, Davenport Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. This incident occurred in the 1800 block of Kirkwood Boulevard. Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, her name is Katherine Margaret and she is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and interference with official acts with a weapon. This incident occurred on Oct. 5. Man called 911 and said that a woman had tried to stab him on the sidewalk.  Police say the 35-year-old woman advanced on the responding officer while ignoring his commands to drop the knife, leading him to shoot her. According to the police officials, the 53-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. Prosecutors say he is now charged with one count each of aggravated battery against a victim he should have known was pregnant, aggravated battery on a first responder and manslaughter of an unborn child by injury to the mother. The 53-year-old man allegedly attacked a pregnant nurse, pushed her into a wall and repeatedly attempted to kick her, causing the death of her unborn baby. Black Hawk County, IOWA – According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate accident occurred right before 8 a.m. Friday. It happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 63. Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash. Deputies say that Honda Pilot collided with Freightliner semi-trailer. The responding deputies found one victim. Police say the driver of the Honda Pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mercy One Waterloo Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Freightliner semi was not injured. Lee County, IOWA – According to the Fort Madison Police Department, the shooting occurred around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. It happened in the 4200 block of Avenue L in Fort Madison. Fort Madison Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found the 15-year-old victim in a bedroom with a gunshot wound. Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The 17-year-old suspect, Dimari Meredith, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Cedar Falls, IOWa – According to the Cedar Falls Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. Thursday. It happened at 3112 Boulder Drive. Cedar Falls Fire Department crews responded to an apartment complex. The responding crews found one apartment on fire with significant smoke in the 3rd-floor hallway.  They say one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
