IOWA – According to the Marshalltown Fire Department officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 5 a.m. Sunday. It happened in the 800 block of N. Center Street in Marshalltown. Marshalltown Fire Department crews responded to a report of a house fire. When the crews arrived on scene, they were able to gain entry to the home where they found a 71-year-old victim. Officials say the man was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident remains under investigation. This is a developing story and it will be updated as new information become available.

Hardin County, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, troopers responded to a report of a crash right after 12 p.m. Sunday. Buick Regal driving southbound left the roadway for an unknown reason. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to strike the side of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep then crashed into the ditch and landed on its top. According to the police officials, the 21-year-old man made his way into the two-bedroom house on Sept. 24. Deputies responded to a report that someone was dead on the property. His corpse had been found by the resident of the property that same morning. Authorities say this case was not ruled a homicide. According to the police officials, the 30-year-old man is accused of arson and possessing a prohibited weapon. The suspect was arrested on Friday. He also has a federal charge pending. Scott County, IOWA – According to the Bettendorf Police Department, his name is Justin Pries and he faces felony charges of first-degree theft; eluding – injury, OWI, drugs or participating in a felony; and operating while under the influence – third offense. This incident occurred right after 2 p.m. Friday. Authorities say the 32-year-old suspect stole merchandise from Burlington Coat Factory and took off in a Dodge Ram truck. According to the police officials, 17-year-old teen stabbed his twin sister to death. The boy allegedly told investigators “he did it in his sleep.” He told authorities that he woke up right before 3 a.m. Wednesday and found himself in his sister’s bedroom. He allegedly “saw a knife in her neck and realized he was not dreaming.” The 17-year-old suspect from Texas, Benjamin Elliott, took out the knife, turned on the light and applied pressure to her wound using a pillow.
