Dubuque, IOWA – According to the statement, the new project is called the “Outreach: Programs to People” and the $7,672 grant award comes from the Dubuque Racing Association. Officials say that the Library Foundation has donated $2,558 for a total of $10,230. Officials can use the funds to buy crafting supplies, musical instruments, and technology equipment. The library’s director said that this program will allow them to ‘bring the library outside of its building and get it to where the people are.’ This story will be updated as new information become available.

Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. It happened in the 3100 block of Nobis Drive in Davenport. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found one male victim. Police say the victim suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. This incident is still under investigation. According to the court documents, the 27-year-old woman was sentenced to 47 years in prison on Monday. Prosecutors say the woman was sentenced for the murder of a 2-year-old boy who was in her care when police found the child starved and beaten in March 2017. Prosecutors say the woman pleaded guilty earlier this month to charges of third-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of a 2-year-old boy. A mother found herself living her worst nightmare last month when a woman who posed to be a fellow mother and friend took off with her infant. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said about the moment when a 19-year-old girl drove away with her 4-day-old daughter. “My whole life was in her car,” she shared. “It was horrible. IOWA – According to the statement, 60 Iowa legislators want the state Supreme Court to overturn a 2018 ruling on abortion. Officials say that the Iowa Supreme Court hasn’t set a date for arguments to be offered. According to the statement, the suit was filed after Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a 2020 law requiring a 24-hour waiting period before a woman can get an abortion. An Iowa judge struck down the law in June, ruling it unconstitutional. The judge pointed to the 2018 Iowa court ruling while abolished a 72-hour waiting period for abortion. 

Des Moines, IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is Danil James Deng and he was arrested Wednesday. Police say the 17-year-old suspect was arrested in the Monday shooting that killed a 40-year-old man. Two other victims suffered non life-threatening injuries.  The 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and a weapons count.
