The state is reporting a total of 361,314 people in Iowa have tested positive for COVID-19 and 5,893 people have died with the virus. A total of 3,267 individuals were reportedly tested over the last 24 hours. A total of 1,689,310 individuals have been tested in Iowa since the pandemic began. Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, his name is Queshan Terrell Harris and he was booked into the Scott County Jail on charges of eluding, a Class D felony punishable by five years in prison, and operating without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by two years in prison. The 25-year-old man was also cited for driving while license suspended, reckless driving, and failure to obey traffic control device. He also was wanted on a warrant in an unrelated domestic abuse assault case. This story will be updated when new information is available.

IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Ajayi Marcel McIntyre and he was sentenced to 18 years in prison. McIntyre distributed heroin in April of 2018.  It was used by East Moline man Kyle Medinger, who died of a heroin overdose.  He pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of heroin in Rock Island County back in September of 2020.   Two others were also charged in the case.

The 21-year-old boyfriend opened fire on his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son after breaking into her mobile home. She’d suffered multiple gunshot and stab wounds. Her 4-year-old son had also been shot in the head but survived. Detectives discovered signs of forced entry to a window on the home’s back door. The child was transported to University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital in critical condition. A California woman has been charged with killing her three young children in Los Angeles earlier this month. The 30-year-old woman is charged with three counts of murder, with an allegation of using a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon against her youngest child, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Monday in a news release. It was not immediately clear if she had an attorney who could comment on her behalf. IOWA – According to the statement, this payout will settle a long-running lawsuit brought by Jerime Mitchell over a shooting that had sparked protests and exposed tensions between Black residents and authorities in Iowa’s second largest city. The resolution cancels a trial that had been scheduled to begin, as the nation awaits a verdict in the trial of a former Minneapolis police officer charged with killing George Floyd. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the average number of daily new cases, taken over a seven-day rolling average, was 439 people per day. This is notably lower than the rate of 521.3 as of Sunday, April 11. As more Iowans are continuing to get vaccinated, 43 counties declined their allocation of COVID-19 Vaccines for the week of April 19th. IOWA – According to the court documents, he was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison. His name is Gregory Irvin Nelson and he was sentenced after he filed written pleas of guilty earlier this month to four counts arising from the confrontation at his apartment in December 2019. WPD officers were called to the apartment after residents heard Nelson yelling in the halls. Nelson fired several shots while holed up in the apartment for several hours. No one was injured. The standoff ended when a police tactical unit entered the building and arrested Nelson.
