Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the average number of daily new cases, taken over a seven-day rolling average, was 439 people per day. This is notably lower than the rate of 521.3 as of Sunday, April 11. As more Iowans are continuing to get vaccinated, 43 counties declined their allocation of COVID-19 Vaccines for the week of April 19th. IOWA – According to the court documents, he was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison. His name is Gregory Irvin Nelson and he was sentenced after he filed written pleas of guilty earlier this month to four counts arising from the confrontation at his apartment in December 2019. WPD officers were called to the apartment after residents heard Nelson yelling in the halls. Nelson fired several shots while holed up in the apartment for several hours. No one was injured. The standoff ended when a police tactical unit entered the building and arrested Nelson.

Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the state is reporting a total of 360,683 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 5,886 people have died with the virus. The state reported a total of 3,082 individuals were tested over the last 24 hours. A total of 1,686,043 individuals have been tested in Iowa since the pandemic began.  The state reported 215 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 34 having been admitted in the last 24 hours.  A total of 886,340 people in Iowa are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19. An Ohio mother files for insanity plea after dragging her 6-year-old son to death behind her moving car, then dumping his body in the Ohio River. According to the officials, the 26-year-old mother had allegedly been talking with her boyfriend about getting rid of her three children, aged 6, 7 and 9.  On Feb. 27, she drove her children to Rush Run Park in Preble County and had them get out of car – then turned the vehicle around and sped off. As she was fleeing, authorities said her 6-year-old, James Hutchinson, grabbed hold of the car handle. According to the police officials, the shooting happened Sunday afternoon at McDonald’s drive-thru in Chicago. When the responding officers arrived on scene, they found the 7-year-old girl clinging to life. She was placed in a patrol car and rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her father also sustained gunshot wounds in the shooting. He was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Police say he will likely recover from the shooting. IOWA – According to the police officials, Tykeese McCray completed application paperwork for the Section 8 Housing Assistance Program fraudulently. McCray did so on the initial application and the annual recertification forms. The 44-year-old woman also reportedly falsified forms for food assistance benefits, child care assistance and medical insurance through Medicaid. She did not list her husband as a household member, and she did not include his income on forms that would determine her eligibility. She received $118,943.19 in assistance. McCray was ordered to serve three months in prison and to pay restitution in the amount of $118,943.19.

IOWA – According to the statement, officers responded to the area around 9:40 p.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired. When the officers arrived on scene, they found a 26-year-old man behind a parked vehicle in a driveway with several gunshot wounds.
