Davenport, IOWA – The city will receive a $9.9 million grant to build a flood wall and pumping system to protect the regional wastewater treatment facility near Credit Island from river and flash flooding. The project will be matched with $2.5 million in local funds. Officials say the project is expected to retain more than 9,000 jobs. Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Todd Ricky Jenkins and prosecutors say he has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2019 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend. The 26-year-old defendant drove from Davenport to Cedar Rapids on Oct. 30, 2019, to confront his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend, Reginald Ward. Prosecutors say the victim and the defendant began arguing outside a convenience story near the girlfriend’s apartment. The defendant told authorities that he shot Ward in self-defense. The body of a 57-year-old man was found on a private beach along Saginaw Bay last week, and inside his wallet was a winning lottery ticket worth $45,000. The victim attempted to cash it, but was unable to because he needed a new social security card for identification purposes. Davenport, IA – According to the Davenport Police Department, his name is Darron Mayo and he faces charges of controlled-substance violation, failure to affix a drug stamp and control of a firearm by a felon. Law enforcement authorities served a search warrant in an apartment on the 3500 block of Heatherton Drive right after 5 a.m. Wednesday.
