DAVENPORT, IOWA – Waste Commission of Scott County facilities will close at noon Thursday, and will remain closed Friday, Dec. 25 for Christmas Day. The Scott Area Landfill and Scott Area Recycling Center will be reopen Saturday, Dec. 26. Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facility and Electronics Recovery Center will reopen Monday, Dec. 28. DAVENPORT, Iowa  – A portion of Kirkwood is closed in Davenport due to damages following a car crash over the weekend. Police say it is closed between Spring and Christie Streets. This is due to damages that occurred to the overhead railroad structure at Mound following a crash that happened on Saturday, Dec. 12. The road will be closed the week of December 14 while Canadian Pacific Rail repairs the structure.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Friends and family celebrated with an emotional drive-by for Randy Burke, a Davenport, Iowa, man who is finally home after 163 days of battling the coronavirus. Randy was in hospitals and a rehab center fighting COVID-19 and bilateral pneumonia. His wife says his symptoms were severe. “Before he went into the hospital he didn’t feel good, had body aches, and just wanted to sleep. DAVENPORT – Sydney Affolter is a 6-foot-tall senior guard/forward on the Marist basketball team. A Mt. Greenwood resident and St. Christina Elementary School graduate, she has been on the varsity her entire high school career. Iowa – An investigation is underway into a homicide in northwest Iowa. The Lake Park Police Department says it got a 911 call around 11:30 am Tuesday about a possible murder in the 100 block of Maple Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene to find a dead woman inside a home. Lake Park police, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are treating this death as a homicide. DAVENPORT, Iowa – Davenport Police are asking the public to help find 16-year-old Jillian Terry. She was reportedly last seen in the early morning hours on Monday, December 14th in the 400 block of Brady Street. Terry was reportedly last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, and carrying a backpack. Those who know Terry say she left a note saying she contacted an old friend, but they’re unaware of who. If anyone has seen Terry or knows where she may be, you’re asked to contact Davenport Police.

DAVENPORT, IOWA – The boss of a Davenport man killed in a crash is doing what he can to help the family through the heartache. The accident happened on Illinois Route 40 in Bureau County on the evening of December 3rd. 39-year-old Lloyd Jones and his 11-year-old daughter Bella died in the crash. His wife and son were hospitalized, but have since recovered. Jones worked for Knilans’ Furniture and Interior Design in Davenport. The owner says, Jones and his daughter have been a light to the community. He started a GoFundMe page for the family that’s getting significant donations.

DAVENPORT, IOWA – Thieves, or what some call “porch pirates” are striking local homes as Christmas presents start to arrive. “You’re not just taking stuff – you’re taking, you know, gifts that’s for Christmas,” Brinley Brunner from Davenport said.
